Positive Reviews
positive:
It's great for conferences
Diplomat Resort is a popular choice for large conferences, and for good reason. Not only does the resort have the banquet space for large events with 800 people or more, but by all accounts the staff there is very capable of handling large events. Everyone who stayed during a conference, from the attendees to the event planners, had nice things to say about the general level of organization and professionalism the staff displayed.
positive:
The ocean views cannot be beat
Through guests enjoyed a variety of beach activities during their stay, such as surfing, swimming, and paddle boarding, a reoccurring favorite seemed to be simply sitting out on the balcony of their oceanfront room. From there, they could sit and sip a cup of coffee while listening to the waves crash and watching the sun rise over the ocean.
positive:
The resort is beautiful
"Beautiful" was the word that came up again and again in guest reviews. Guests found that the décor and furnishings in the guest rooms and common areas was lovely and reflected modern design sensibilities.
Negative Reviews
negative:
The food and drinks are pricey
Though most people conceded that this is typical practice in Hollywood, guests found that the prices at the resort's restaurant and bar were quite inflated. A few also expressed that they felt nickel and dimed by the "service charges" that were seemingly applied to everything.
negative:
There's some lag changing the TV channels
A few guests were bothered by the loading time when changing channels on the TV, with some describing the wait to be as much as six seconds long.
negative:
It can get a little crowded
The hotel prides itself on its ability to cater to large conferences, but some lone travelers found the presence of mass crowds of name-tag-wearing conference attendees irksome. The crowds were sometimes the cause of long wait times.
