Guests found it convenient not having to drive or use public transport as they were within walking distance of many cafes, bars and restaurants. Many appreciated being across the road from the popular Golden Gate Park as well as being in close proximity to the numerous shops and boutiques on Haight Street.
The continental breakfast was said to include a wide range of items including boiled eggs and fresh fruit. Guests were also pleased to find ample supplies of fresh tea and coffee. If you like to start your day with a hearty meal then you certainly won't be disappointed.
All the members of staff have been described as being friendly and courteous, willing to assist the guests with their various issues and queries. The front-desk staff were said to be efficient and accommodating whilst the waiting staff were staff were said to be attentive and courteous.
Although guests appreciated the old-world charm of the building many said that the rooms were rather dated and in need of refurbishment. Tatty-looking carpets and upholstery, date bathroom suites and marks on the walls were just some of the objections raised by disappointed guests.
The hotel overlooks a rather busy street and guests whose rooms were located at the front of the building said that they were able to hear traffic noise both late in the evening and early in the morning which prevented them from getting a good night's sleep.
Guests who stayed here during warmer weather said that their rooms often felt very warm and stuffy due to a lack of air-conditioning units.
