Positive Reviews
positive:
Great location for tourists.
The location is really ideal for those who want to visit the tourist attractions of Edinburgh. The best sightseeing is all very close, including Edinburgh Castle, Grassmarket, Royal Mile, and Old Town. Plus, with a rail station nearby, tourists can travel as much as they want.
positive:
Fully furnished is so convenient.
The fully furnished apartments are great for those on the go. Travelling during the day and coming back to a fully-equipped and fully-stocked apartment in the evening is convenient for those who travel or who are in Edinburgh on business.
positive:
Recently refurbished.
Many past reviews focus on outdated fixtures and faded décor. A recent refurbishment of many rooms have brought the older townhouse into more modern times. These rooms are luxurious and comfortable with amenities to make the stay pleasurable.
Negative Reviews
negative:
Beware when booking.
This apartment hotel is owned and managed by a larger apartment rental company. Other apartments, such as Tartan and Castle Apartments, are part of the same company. When guests book online, they might not get the unit or complex they want. Other units are conveniently located, but are much more dated and less luxurious than the Queen Street location. Complaining at check-in results in little more than a forward to upper management.
negative:
Running hot and cold.
The bathrooms are not the modern and attractive features of chain hotels. These bathrooms are within an older town home and retain some of those features, such as small spaces. Also, the plumbing is a bit temperamental and runs hot and cold, sometimes during the same shower session.
negative:
Not all are nice and new.
While some of the units have been recently refurbished, not all rooms have been redone with nice and new fixtures and features. For those others, the décor is dated and amenities, like bedding and linens, are just old and tired.
