Hotel Masseria Montepaolo Dimora di Charme (Conversano, Italy)
About Masseria Montepaolo Dimora di Charme
16th century hunting lodge of the Counts of Acquaviva of Aragon. The residence, closed by a stone wall, is framed in a verdant romantic panorama and located on a hill overlooking a karst sinkhole. The property is surrounded by a Mediterranean scrub grove, which you can walk through to admire mastic trees, wild olive trees, carob trees, downy oaks and spontaneous flowers such as cyclamens and orchids. The entire area is protected by the WWF and included in the natural park in the "Conversano lakes". In the large lawn of the house there is a swimming pool reserved for guests, an equipped playground and an air-conditioned winter garden suitable for weddings, meetings and events of various kinds. The farm is the official venue for the celebration of civil weddings and is included in the prestigious association of Historic Houses of Asso Castelli. There is a small rural church attached to it, probably the hermitage of S. Antonio da Padova, in which frescoes dated 1642 were found. On the main floor and in the attic there are 12 rooms equipped with every comfort and common areas dedicated to reading. Three apartments have been created in the old stable, two of which have a kitchenette. 200 meters from the Masseria stands the 14th century "Torre del Brigante", recognized as an asset of historical and architectural interest by the Superintendence of Artistic and Cultural Heritage. Located on a hill, it houses private apartments that overlook the breathtaking panorama of the natural park. The dovecote with a hemispherical roof of Byzantine influence is suggestive, originally used for the training of racing pigeons. The structure can also be reached on foot along a path in the heart of a grove. Respecting the original architecture, the rooms on the ground floor: the millstone, the stable and the carriage room, are used for catering. The à la carte restaurant is called “Al Viticcio”. The cuisine is typical of tradition, linked to seasonality, with the use of organic products from the farm: extra virgin olive oil, fruit and vegetables. In the preparation of the dishes there is no lack of creativity and a certain personalization, respecting the Apulian tradition of our Chef.
