The hotel is within walking distance, or a short cab drive, of the central attractions of San Diego, making it an excellent choice to stay in on a visit here from the location point of view.

The staff members in the hotel are friendly, well-trained professionals with a great customer-service attitude, who are ready to take any amount of pain to ensure that the guests enjoy their stay here. The front desk staff, in particular, has been highly praised for their friendliness and dedication to duty.

There is a daily cleaning service in the hotel. The housekeeping standard here is high and the level of cleanliness and maintenance is very good. Guests here enjoy the clean rooms, and there has been a lot of praise for the comfortable beds.

The decor has been noticed as having become rather dated lately. It has also been noticed that some of the fixtures and fittings are rather worn in places and need replacing. Worn carpets have been mentioned, as have taps which fail to turn on at the first attempt. Cleanliness is fine, but refurbishment is required. Guest have also noted air-conditioners breaking down in the public as well as the private areas.

Parking is charged here and some guests have found it very unsatisfactory that the daily parking charge is not included in the room fee, as it causes a lot of inconvenience. One has to drive a lot of levels up the parking structure, so parking is a bit of an inconvenience here, in general.

Guests miss the presence of a minifridge in the room, being unable to keep drinks cold.
