About Hotel Lygon Arms
The 4 star, 16th century Hotel Lygon Arms is in Chipping Camden, itself surrounded by attractive Cotswold villages.
Rooms are en-suite and some are in a courtyard setting. Facilities vary depending upon room choice but can include refrigerator, colour television, DVD player, telephone and free Wi-Fi. For those who prefer self catering, enquiries are invited regarding Elmhurst holiday cottage.
The Lygon Arms has a relaxing lounge bar which is popular with local and tourist visitors.
Breakfast choices are served in the authentically themed dining room, overlooking the High Street. The hotel is a popular choice for later dining where menus make much use of fresh, local produce in the creation of imaginative British style dishes. The hotel is family owned with restaurant meats coming from their own farm.
Apart from the village itself, attractions nearby include Hidcote Manor Gardens, Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle.
Positive Reviews
positive:
Renowned for its food.
It’s fair to say that the hotel has a reputation for food that has spread well beyond the county borders. First class and stunning with service to match! Dining here is a real occasion and it’s well worth booking in advance to make sure of a table.
positive:
Clean and comfortable rooms.
Entirely in keeping with the rest of the hotel, you feel immediately relaxed and comfortable. Rooms are furnished – and cleaned – to a meticulously high standard.
positive:
Customer service.
This is of the highest order without being cloying or condescending. On the odd occasion that something goes wrong – and it can happen anywhere – they over compensate for any error or misunderstanding on their part.
Negative Reviews
negative:
For whom the Eight Bells toll.
Over priced and reliant too much on a long standing reputation. For better service + value, try The Eight Bells!
negative:
Highly charged atmosphere.
Bar prices are high. This includes wine by the glass in the bar. Here, the price is insulted by wine of a cheap standard. Rooms may be vintage but not so, the wine served in the bar!
negative:
A pub by any other name ...
It's described as an hotel, but it feels like a pub! Because of the ‘pub’ feel – and it is crowded with locals so no getting away from it - it doesn’t strike the right note for those in search of that special, restful break in the Cotswolds.
