The Country Inn & Suites by Carlson Gurnee is located just across the street from Six Flags Great America theme park and its many rollercoasters. All guestrooms at the hotel are non-smoking and benefit from a microwave, coffee-maker, cable television, fridge, radio/alarm clock with iPod dock, iron, hairdryer and work desk. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, along with complimentary coffee, cookies and newspapers during the week. The heated indoor pool is the place to visit for a refreshing dip or the onsite fitness center for the more active. The hotel provides their very own Be Our Guest Breakfast; a hot buffet providing items such as Belgian waffles, fresh fruit and pastries. Other eateries are available nearby. The Country Inn & Suites by Carlson Gurnee is in close proximity to the Gurnee Mills Mall and Lake Michigan is within reach for a day trip.
Many previous guests have given positive reviews of the breakfast and were impressed with the choice on offer and the quality. There is a continental offering featuring yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries and cereals along with a hot cooked option with sausages, eggs, bacon and all the usual fare. The food is constantly replenished so there is always plenty for everybody and it is complimentary. .
Six Flags Great America amusement park is located just across the street from the hotel and you can even see some of the rides from your room. Also close by are Gurnee Mills shopping mall which has a multi-screen cinema and the hotel is located roughly halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago. .
The hotel has a small pool which is an ideal place to have a soak, relax and unwind after a long day at the amusement park. It is also a safe place for children to play as well and is kept clean and well maintained. .
In places the hotel is starting to look worn and in dire need of an update. Fixtures and fittings are in a state of disrepair and furnishings are old. There are reports that the hotel is under new ownership and that there are plans for renovations in the future including carpets, mattresses and furniture. .
As Six Flags Great America is so near this is a popular place for families to stay and as such there are a lot of children around who can be noisy and quite boisterous at times. .
Although there is W-Fi available and it is complimentary it is has been reported by previous guests as being really slow and that they were often unable to get a signal. .
